What is a disc golf putting league?
A putting league is a disc golf competition focused on short throws into a basket. Instead of playing a full course, players putt from designated positions and score points under the organizer’s rules. It is a way to practice your short game, meet other disc golfers and add some friendly competition to your week.
Most putting leagues in Minnesota use a format generally known as Station Style. Players move between putting stations at different distances, throwing two putters at each tee and earning points for makes and basket contact. Leagues often meet regularly during a season, giving you a chance to build consistency and meet other players.

Station Style rules & what to bring
- Distances: putts range from 5 to 40 feet.
- Equipment: bring two putters.
- Make: each made putt earns 2 points.
- Splash: a putt that taps the cage or above earns 1 point.
- Make both: earn 1 bonus point, for 5 points total at that tee.
- Tee markers: each tee is marked by a single object, such as a cone or flag. Place your foot behind the marker as you would behind a mini marker disc.
- Groups: play on cards of 2–6 players. Coming solo? Ask the organizer to help you find a group.
- Resting discs: if the disc comes to rest touching any part of the basket from the cage upward, it counts as a make.
- Wall bounces: there is no penalty for contacting a wall or another surface before the basket. A bounce that results in a make or splash still earns the corresponding points.
Indoor putting leagues and winter disc golf in Minnesota
Indoor putting gives Minnesota disc golfers a way to keep playing when cold weather and short days make outdoor rounds harder to fit in. A putting event may use temporary baskets inside a brewery, community space or another venue. Outdoor putting events can also be part of the calendar; a Putting label alone does not mean an event is indoors.

Availability changes through the season. Past listings show where putting events have taken place, but do not confirm that a venue currently hosts a league.
Putting leagues and putting tournaments: what is the difference?
A putting league usually offers a recurring series of sessions. A putting tournament is generally a standalone competition, although organizers may run a tournament as part of a league or larger disc golf event. Both focus on putting, but entry requirements, scoring and prizes depend on the organizer.
MNDisc groups events using the format supplied by the event source. The listings on this page show events identified as Putting; check each listing to see whether it is a league session or another competition. A tournament without a supplied Putting classification may not appear here.
What should I bring to a putting league?
Bring two putters for the Station Style format described above. Review the entry fee, check-in time, registration requirements, venue rules and any age restrictions. You can attend on your own and ask the organizer about joining a card. If you are new to putting leagues, contact the organizer about the format and experience level before attending. Event-specific rules take priority over this general description.
